WARNING: This rant contains material that is unsuitable for the easily offended. Do not read this rant if you:
>Love EVERYTHING about TF2 and think it's the best game of all time.
>Hate CoD with all your heart and want it to disappear forever.
Do not come crying to me if you disagree unless you have something to back your claim up. It should also be noted that I love both of these games.

Team Fortress 2 is often regarded as one of the best FPS games of all time. It has been praised for it's gameplay, voices, graphics, you name it. The Call of Duty, on the other hand, has been viewed as over-rated. It is booed at for it's engine, it's gameplay, and supposedly being unfair. These two games are practically polar opposites when it comes to hype on the internet, and in all honesty, I am sick of it. This is my rant on how TF2 is over-hyped, and how Call of Duty is under-rated.

On one side of the ring, we have Team Fortress 2, a game known across the internet as one of the greatest FPS games of all time. But I find that it has things that annoy me more than anything in the world. These include:

>The game being more about hats than actual gameplay.
>Melee being almost useless and takes no skill whatsoever to use.
>The fact that offensive almost always win Attack and Defend style games.
>The game humiliates you by announcing that a player is dominating you.
>You can be destroyed easily by a team just because their class cancels your class' skills out.

I honestly hate these moments and these moments are common. But still, why go on about it when I can fact check the claims that are made against Call of Duty?

Call of Duty. Just say the name in a Team Fortress 2 related video and I swear you will become the center of a flame-war. But why is this game hated on so much? There are so many reasons, it could just be said that it's very existence is the reason. These reasons include, but are not limited to:
>Cheap melee kills.
>Predator Missiles.
>Only strategy being point the gun and shoot.
>Quick-scopers.
>Reusing the same engine.

Now, I have heard about these for so long, it has lost all meaning, and I am sick of it. I am now going to prove these claims wrong in the order I said them. The claims are wrong because:

>Shooting the enemy at the range of the knife could do the same thing, but the knife is more efficient.
>These are not present in Black Ops 2. Although there is a similar "Hellstorm Missile", it is harder to get and therefore much less common.
>The strategy of CoD is less point and shoot and more about position.
>Quick-scoping is incredibly uncommon and the people who say otherwise probably haven't gone on multiplayer.
>Valve games do the same thing. For example, TF2, Garry's Mod, Counter Strike: Source, and Portal all use the same engine as Half-Life 2. Want proof? If your game stops responding, it refers to your game as "hl2.exe".

In all honesty, I hate having to have people go on and on about Call of Duty being inferior to Team Fortress 2. Most of the people who bash CoD are regular TF2 players who likely have never even tried a CoD game in their life. This war is as silly as the console wars, but twice as annoying. Now, you may be asking me "But (INSERT NAME HERE), you forgot about (INSERT THING I FORGOT TO ADDRESS HERE). Well, that's why the comments section exists. After all, I may have exposed the truth, but I haven't exposed all the lies.

The lies are for you to expose to me.

I have nothing against either. I actually like TF2. I just hate it when every FPS is compared to it, regardless if it's a decent comparison or not, and how CoD is thrown under the bus so much.

my few complaints in this rant, is that the melee in TF2 isn't useless, unless you're trying to be a melee scout.
melee as a soldier, use a rocket jump to get close, his melee is very strong, as a heavy, use something with some kind of effect, as a spy, backstab, and as a Demoknight, well just hit something and it falls dead.
most valve games aren't as similar as you speak of.
also I've played CoD... I do get annoyed... you find a good spot to sit, with a good gun... you're golden....
it does have fun multiplayer though, and the only time it bugs me on TF2 is when I play a game and some kid goes on talking shit about TF2 and how it's not as good as CoD while playing TF2, because that's like me going on a CoD game and saying it was shit and TF2 was better, it is just stupid :P
and the attack defend thing, if you're team ain't balanced, you're screwed. A team with a bunch of heavies will be fucked if a dead ringer spy goes in.
the trick to TF2 is all team work, so it's hard to carry a whole team, that's why classes cancel each other out.
I say like what you want to like, I do get pissed though when some kid gets on after not doing the tutorials on TF2 and keeps asking people "how do I put a red dot on this thing? and why is it my sniper rifle isn't doing enough damage?"
basically, the two are two totally different games, the best thing to do, is to play whatever you feel like playing, and not worry about what is better between two different games.
also... for the most part... CoD uses the same engine with each game... usually with small updates between them. mainly because an engine doesn't effect what types of games can be played.
all in all, I think you make a few valid points but went in a little biased, I played CoD a lot before joining TF2, now I love TF2 more than CoD, but I see flaws and upsides in both, if your team sucks in TF2, you can't win at all, you have to have a good team to win, you can't carry, and all weapons in it have flaws, basically, someone in TF2 just starting has the same chance to win as a veteran, and with this, I end my rant.
you're not as stupid as most others with this, but please, play TF2 a bit more for fun instead of trying to objectify it, enjoy the game, and be happy :P

No offense, but your comment is rather long. I'm fine with reading lengthy posts, but yours...

Yes, melee has it's uses, such as the backstab, and being the Demoknight's primary, but other than that, it's mostly a last resort for me and slot for an extra slot. Granted, in CoD, it wasn't that good either, as it was merely an instant kill rather than a true up-close fight, but I digress.

I guess I was a little biased. I was mostly fed up with the bias against CoD, and how most people compare it to TF2.
